“The heart of the Waldorf method is that education is an art – it must speak to the child’s experience. To educate the whole child, their heart and will must be reached, as well as their mind.” – Rudolf Steiner
Our first Listening Post in September heard a wide spectrum of perspectives on the demand for and nature of a potentially re-founded Steiner Waldorf provision, despite the challenging environment.
Within precarious and uncertain times, we are continuing to work towards and cultivate the conditions for the re-establishment of a professional and progressive local Waldorf school, most probably in the Stroud area, at a timeline yet to be established.
Our wider work is to continue to set our shoulders to the task of helping to cultivate the conditions for the thriving of that professionalism and vision, most notably through the first accredited Steiner Waldorf Teacher Training programme in the UK, co-delivered with Bath Spa University. Such a re-alignment of professional and pedagogical standards, open to external scrutiny, is an ongoing commitment for the charity and we will be continuing to share this journey’s development across a range of social media and through our newsletter.
We are grateful for the ongoing support of our wider community, both here in the UK and globally, and the developing discourse on the integrity, accountability and heart of Steiner Waldorf education, particularly as it interfaces with broader educational provision and themes and finds resonance and shared values in a future-oriented vision for education of creativity and social justice.
This wider work and discourse is a crucial foundation to the roadmap towards a future school, and we will open our forum with a summary of the themes of a model school that speaks to and supports children’s experience of the world.
7.30 – 9.00pm Wed 30th Nov 2022, The Community Room, St Lukes Therapy Centre, 53 Cainscross Rd, Stroud GL5 4EX
